Thanks for this post and collating all the references. I think taking this to the press is a great idea. The arrival of Bing is a story in itself and coupling this with the fact Google is f***ing up is something they would be pretty interested in if you ask me.

Thank you for this article and sharing some sound advice.

Rankings are always going to fluctuate and your comment to not panic is the main takeaway for any UK site suffering with a slip.

Hiya,

Thoughtful post. I don't think SEO agencies will be able to gang up on Google though. Look at the various outcries over paid linking and Google didn't budge. (Rightfully so, imo).

However, I do think the dread pressure of the public spotlight might make something happen.

I've blogged about this too; http://blog.arhg.net/2009/06/poor-state-of-uk-search-today.html

I'm sure I've seen others too!

Been seeing this for just about a month now.

Been patiently waiting it out, and have seen a reduction in this in some of the phrases that I am regularly checking, but there are still plenty of examples of this littered about.

Really not good for their relevancy for the UK Market - even people that I know who dont know anything about search have started noticing these strange results, without any prompting from me!
